It is important to carefully consider your needs. Are you going to use your duvet in the summer or in the winter? Do you sleep with the window open? Is your mattress very insulating or is it aired from below? We hear far too often people complain that they have purchased a duvet that is too warm. If you are too warm when you sleep there is a risk of not getting enough deep sleep.

Next, it is important to ensure that the duvet is at least 30 cm longer than your height and, likewise, it has to be at least 30 cm wider than your chest. It has also become very popular to sleep with American double duvets, which are just as wide as the bed at least. And a double duvet is a good idea only if both you and your partner have the same needs. It is no good if you are freezing and your partner is sweating.

When choosing the comfort rating of your duvet, always look at the fill power. The fill power is an expression of the insulating properties and quality of the duvet. A high fill power means that the filling is light and airy and insulates well because it contains a lot of air. It is the air in the staffing that keeps the cold away. The lower the quality of the down and the more feathers the duvet contains, the lower the fill power and insulating properties will be. Eiderdown generally has the highest insulating capacity, next come goose down and last – duck down. Look at the declaration – duck down with a fill power above 10 is of better quality than goose down with a fill power of 8.
The highest possible fill power is 13.

Finally, you can get help from the different labels on the duvet. Make sure the duvet is made in Denmark. If you want to be sure that the product does not contain any residual chemicals, the product has to be labelled: STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® Class I. Only class I is safe enough for a baby’s delicate skin. If you are allergic to dust mites, make sure that the duvet has the NOMITE logo. NOMITE ensures that dust mites cannot penetrate the product. In order to be certain that the duvets are washed and dried according to the strictest international rules, which eliminates micro organisms and viruses, make sure that the product has the Downafresh® greenline label.
